Welcome to ScienceWiz!

Learn all about global warming with the ScienceWiz Energy kit. Discover what energy is, how it is generated today and what choices await us in the future. Build a solar car and join the race to save the planet! Build a solar racer, launch a supercapacitor car, make an electric car, spin a flywheel generator, build a battery to light an LED, do a kinetic chain reaction, store potential energy on your head, discover how solar cells work, and focus the suns energy with lenses – all in with one kit. WOW! Step-by-step, highly visual instructions lead a child successfully through each of the 22 activities.

The full color illustrations present central scientific concepts which allow children to discover the “why” as well as the “how” of these great projects. Bring the fun and learning further by utilizing the animations that compliment the book on the ScienceWiz website to deepen and extend comprehension.

The award winning ScienceWiz line got its start in 1995 when we released our first title ScienceWiz Electricity. Our line of science kits stemmed from Dr. Penny Norman’s volunteer work teaching science in her children’s elementary schools and her ScienceWiz after school and summer programs.

As Wayne Freedman of ABC News 7 said in an article about ScienceWiz, “This approachability to science does not come about by accident. It begins in her living room with a friend, Ann Einstein, who is a distant relative to famous scientist Albert Einstein. The women met years ago when Ann ran a preschool where Penny had enrolled her daughter, “And she said, are you doing enough science?” Ann said. “And I said, well I’d love to do more science, but when you get science things, they never work.”

With initial development supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and the Franklin Foundation, each of our kits is created with the goal of teaching fundamental scientific concepts to children through hands-on play.  From our offices in Richmond, CA we work hard towards our goal of providing children a basic foundation in science. Each new title we release is focused on a distinct topic. With so many disciplines in science, our work may never be finished!

With the introduction to STEM Progressions in the Physical Sciences for elementary and middle school in 2018, ScienceWiz is in the forefront of science education for kids.
